Laboratory Building Signage

Àlvaro Siza, Novartis Campus Basel

Not a trace of banal conventionality appears in Siza’s elegant new laboratory building so to echo the abandonment of the conventional and predictable, rectangular shadows of standard wall signage remain – in bright red. Normally hidden technical infrastructure was left exposed above the elegant, understated workplace environment. The red-alert color contrasts the monochrome interior while matching the exposed ceiling.
